Welcome to join the CinemAsia Filmfestival 2-13 April 2008 at The Rialto Theatre in Amsterdam

The third edition of the CinemAsia Filmfestival 2-13 April 2008 at the Film theatre Rialto in Amsterdam. The very diverse program includes more than 50 feature and short films and documentaries from all corners of Asia which haven’t been screened at Dutch theatres before. CinemAsia will officially be opened on Wednesday, April 2nd with the screening of Finishing the Game: the search for a new Bruce Lee by Justin Lin. Special guests that evening are Martin Schwab (known from the Dutch detective series Baantjer) and the movie’s leadrol actor Roger Fan.

In cooperation with the Binger and the Filmacademie, CinemAsia is organizing Filmlab. Within the theme Asian Cool, a selection of young Asian-Dutch filmmakers was asked to come up with an idea for a short film. Three ideas have been selected and are produced under the coaching of CinemAsia. The results will be shown during the festival on Sunday, April 6th. After the screening there will be a discussion concerning the film’s topics. The idea behind all this is to give the word to the Asian Diaspora who live, work and are active in the Netherlands.
After the screening of Getting Home a discussion panel will be organized by the CPIPF (Stichting Chinese Politieke Integratie en Participatie Fonds) on Friday, April 4 th.
On top of that we have an opening‘borrel’ (2nd April) and a closing‘borrel’ (13th April, hosted by DJ Irwan (irwan1.hyves.hk)) and on Saturday, April 5 th after the screening of, again, Finishing the Game the Rialto will be transformed to host an exciting party. The entrance is free.

Students get a discount on the film tickets on the showing of their student ID card. From 13th April onwards the highlights of CinemAsia will go on tour all across the Netherlands: Rotterdam, Utrecht, Den Haag, Eindhoven, Den Bosch, Nijmegen and Groningen.
